I spent Tet in Hanoi about six years ago, and it was great. True, some stores may be closed, but it is completely worth it. Everyone will be out celebrating, and the parades and lion dances are amazing.

Vietnam is a very user-friendly country when it comes to travel. No matter what time of year, you shouldn't have any real problems getting around the country.
