Is it just me or does anyone else think they spend way too much helping just one family per episode when the amount they spend could help maybe four or five families? This past episode, they not only built a six bedroom house but threw in a trip to Paris for 7; a wedding, rings and all; and paid off their old house! Geez, several of the kids will be off to college in a couple of years and they won't even need that kind of space.

I think they go "Extreme" partly for ratings and to just WOW the family. Most of these families have struggled or gone through such horrible things that they want to absolutely amaze them with these wonderful homes, trips etc.,
You're right, they could help several families with the money that they spend on just one, but would you be watching the show if they were just fixing up several houses and not going all out on the one? Probably not and I'm pretty sure ABC cares more about who is watching than who they are helping. It's just another TV show anyway.

I do agree, but that's why it's called EXTREME.....they have also ripped down perfectly good houses, just because they were too small for the particular family. I have not watched the most recent episode, but will be sometime this week. I would HAVE to assume that some of this stuff is donated, and it's not just ABC footing the bill....???? wouldn't you think?

I couldn't agree with you more. They were a nice family but every show is always about a family with an illness or does a ton of charity work. Last night it was just the Brady Bunch needed a house. We all would love a house.

maybe they should do more shows where they rebuild a street. how about doing a whole season in new orleans building back some of those streets. that to me would be EXTREMEly nice!

i stopped watching that show because it became too extreme. abc doesn't have to pay for materials for the houses because i assume that they are offered for free(everyone sees the name).

Ty Pennington is a media whore. This show has gotten way over the top.

What are those *poor* families going to do when the taxes are due on those house?

i agree and even though the stories are awesome i do think the houses are a little over kill. they get more and more extreme. Who pays for the house? if they pay the whole house...who pays the frickin electric and water bills? The show?

i agree, somewhere helping for the sake of helping got lost in wanting to show generosity.

someone sounds bitter and jealous!!

just be happy for those people that they do this for. most of them have gone through a TON of sh*t in their lives and deserve someone to be good to them.
