I see the Beatles as one of the first boybands with a bit of talent, nothing special.
People regard John Lennons Imagine as one the best tracks of our time, but the rest sounded pretty pants. Yet he still gets this god like status.

I may not have been there but as some of you say and quite rightly so, the music does live on. I think the Rolling Stones were a far more better band!

Wow, boy band? I going to assume you weren't born yet when the Beatles where popular, that's OK. The influence they have had on music is attested to by all the great rock bands that have followed, check out some interviews with your favorite and see who they where influenced by. Now, I have to disagree on "a bit of talent". They started out with small stage amps back then because that's all there was, but it was the writing and composition that made them great. Besides Lennon and McCarthy being one of the most prolific song writers in history, they where constantly changing and doing things no-one had done before. George Harrison was a greatly underrated guitar player and Ringo Star was the best drummer in England when he joined them. His behind the beat style has been emulated by countless drummers. No, they where not the best musicians, but there focus was on the music and their compositions where tight. Example of a silly, almost didn't make it to an album song that was written and recorded it under 2 hours is Octopus's Garden. Give it a listen and check out George's guitar. It doesn't get any cleaner. Then listen to the White album and Abby Road, and tell me they sound like a boy band. As you can tell, I'm an old timer fan, you had to be there.

Though the Beatles were not a technical band (They couldnt even read music), they DID have a way of writing a melody & making you beleive what they were singing about; to the extent that it has rarely been matched since. The fact that they could really ham it up for publicity didnt hurt any either.

The Beatles wrote their own music, played their own instruments and worked way to hard to be compared to the 'boy band' image.

While the boy bands of today will be forgotten by 2040, here we are still talking about the Beatles 25-30 years later.

John Lennon is not godlike because of Imagine, he is godlike because of his moral role on society, his art and poetry and is 'worshipped' because he was brought down so abruptly.

I consider Monte. You might have needed to had been there, in that point interval to admire them. (Not that others later did not) however the tune, models, and the whole thing was once so one of a kind. When they got here with their mod hairstyles and type and tune, which was once quite a duplicate of American tune however sounded so one of a kind to our ears, coming from them. It simply modified all of America. From the time they arrived, our tune & type modified and we started to replicate them. Check again in historical past. Look at pics earlier than 1964, once they arrived and observe how one of a kind American youngsters appeared in comparison to how they appeared in 1966. That's whilst you would uncover a storage band in each and every vicinity. Everyone began bands with drums. Before that our singers simply sang in entrance of an orchestra. Last however no longer least, to at the present time, I have not located any one who can examine. The Stones are quality, they got here at the heals of the beatles and their tune was once a little bit edgy however quality and due to the fact that they caught in combination, they're nonetheless standard in these days. I can handiest suppose what would have pop out of the Beatles had all of them stayed in combination.

I disagree with you! The Beatles were a unique, talented 60's group, and 40 years later, their music is still being played and enjoyed. They were innovative, great song writers and singers.

It's not really how we perceive the Beatles that matter; it's how they were perceived through American culture. During their peak time, the perception of "good" was WAY different than it is now.
