I am trying to set up my kids with a shared computer (CPU) where each will have a key board, mouse and monitor and be able to work on totally different items at the same time, for example my daughter could be surfing the web while my son is doing homework. Do I need a certain type of computer or are thier simple instructions to follow with the current basic computer that i have now?

You cant do it, because you can only have one pointing device with windows.

If you have a second SLOW computer, then you can use it as a terminal login, then remote desktop into your main box using the older PC as a user interface only.

this cant happen, only one key board and only one mouse will work.the two monitors can work if u have a multiple monitor enabled video card.and if u get this, the PC will show the same thing on the 2 monitors.example,if Ur daughter is surfing the web,the Internet window will take the whole screen, can Ur daughter surf the web without a full screen window, also Ur son?.each will has to work on a part of the screen, remember the 2 monitors will show the same thing which means that ur daughter will not surfe the web in a maximized window and also for ur son on another monitor they will share the picture and it will be hard for both of them.if they can do fine!

IAM SORRY FOR TELLING U THAT IT WILL NOT WORK FOR THE KEY BOARDS AND THE 2 MOUSES,AND IT WILL BE HARD TO SHARE THE MONITOR BUT THIS IS THE TRUTH.THE WHOLE IDEA WILL NOT WORK.

you have better keyboard and mouse with USB keyboard and mouse. for 2 reveal screen, you will desire to have specific video card with 2 video output. or having 2 video card. whether, on account which you're working on one computing gadget, you will in simple terms have one cursor. and you would be able to't have 2 guy or woman typing on the numerous word processors.
