Democracy is a combination of Demons and Aristocracy. In which when combined together... they became Democracy.
Seriously, democracy is Rome and America.
Kidding aside, democracy is between you and me...
But for the truth.... democracy is to elect your own devil in the midst of chaotic working order of the self serving governance of the chosen few.
Whew... I got a lot more of the life we lived by of the so-called democracy.
Well?... At least you'll have a broader view of democracy for your project and democracy could be found in dictionary.

Literally, democracy means "rule by the poeple". In essence, it means that the people have the right to rule. However, there are differing types of democracy.
Liberal Representative Democracies are like what we live in, in the United States. Everyone can vote who is of a voting age, regardless of race, gender, or religion. We elect people who we think will make the best decisions for us, as a people. It also protects minorities under law, seperates powers, and protects individual liberties (hence the name liberal) like speech, religion, etc.
Direct democracy is where the people vote for absolutely everything. It would be as if we voted for every bill that passed through congress. It differs from representative democracy, in that there we elect people to make those votes for us, people who we think have the same opinions as us.
Representative democracy (note - it's not liberal representative democracy, just a representative) is the same as a liberal democracy (where we elect people to make choices for us). However, it may not be liberal in the sense that it may not allow everyone to vote, as in the Antebellum USA, or it may not guarentee individual rights.
That's a basic overview of democracy. In a nutshell, it just means that people can vote on things that will affect their lives. If you need more information, I suggest visiting Wikipedia or Encarta - either of those should provide you with the necessary information.
Godd luck with your project!
