the area burned by the florida wildfires was shaped as the figure shown below, label the dimensions and give the area represented by the composite figure.

ok,,so the picture wont come out,,its a RECTANGLE,, it has an (A) on the right,,and a (2A) on the bottom.

thanks for reading,,and whoever gives me the answer or how to do it step by step gets the ten pointer,,,thank you so much everyone!!

The length is 2A.

The width is A.

The area is the length times the width, A x 2A = 2A²

----

Oh, ok. So the wildfire burned 150,000 acres, huh?

Well acres are nice, but unfortunately, when you take the square root of acres, you get...units that nobody uses.

So first let's convert 150,000 acres to square miles.

1 mi² = 640 acres, so:

150,000 acres x (1 mi²/640 acres) = 234.475 mi²

Now...using the formula from up above, where we calculated the area:

2A² = 234.475 mi²

Divide both sides by 2:

A² = 117.1875 mi²

And take the square root:

A = 10.825 mi

So the area burned was about 10.825 mi wide and about 2 x 10.825 = 21.650 miles long.

Well, it seems by the information given, all you can say about the rectangle is that it is twice as long as it is wide ("tall"?); those would be the dimensions. The actuals lengths will depend on 'A.'

The area of a rectangular region is always qiven by length times width; so, in this case, you have: A × 2A which equals 2A^2 ("two 'A' squared").

Feel free to email me for any clarifications.

so 2A^2 = 150000
A^2=75000
A = 273.86
2A = 547.72

oops, Jim is right. Convert to some normal unit of measure using the info your book/teacher gave you about acres.

Area is length times width, so multiply the two numbers together to get square units.

Make sure that your measurements are the same unit. In other words all of your measurements should be in feet or all of them should be in meters, but not mixed.

If the measurement is in miles then miles X miles = square miles.
If the measurements are in different units then you will need to convert one of the numbers to be in the other unit. In other words if one measurement was in feet and the other was in yards, then you could multiply the yards number by 3 in order to convert it to feet before multiplying it by the other feet measurement.

area = L x W right?

but since the width = 2 times the length..

Area = a x 2s

Area = 2a^2

So take the length a and multiply it by itself and then double it... and that's the answer in SQUARE "whatevers"

Like square feet, yards, miles.

okay so because the area is a rectangel, that means that the area is lengthx width

so u plug in A for widtrh and 2A for length
so u get

Area= 2A x A = 2A^2

hope that was enough

a=25000 acres and 2a=50000 acres...an acre is 200 feet so A=5 million feet and B = 10 million feet.

1 acre = 43,560 square feet

A * 2A = 150,000 (43560
2A² = 6534000000
A² = 3267000000

ANSWER
A = 57157.68 square feet
2A = 114315.35 square feet
