They keep somebody from dumping the supposedly best players. That prevents some teams from getting stacked and keeps the league more fair.
Yahoo keeps updating the list, but they are usually a little slow when there is an injury or somebody that was suppose to be good, is having a bad year and is stinking up the joint.

The cant cut list is a list of players that you can not cut. In my opinion it is the stupidest thing because if one of these players gets injured you are stuck with them. You can turn it off.

It's to prevent team owners from dropping top players and ruining the league with unbalance and unfair play.

1) it's so if you accidentally drop your best player it won't let you do it, and 2) it's for after the trade deadline has passed so if you're team is out of the playoff hunt you can't drop your best player and allow someone else to pick him up and give his team an unfair advantage
