Because we're good at it. Arrogance, Greed, Stupidity, Fear, Hate, none stir men so much as these. Smart men control their emotions while the blind let their emotions control them with little regard for sound advice or the writing on the wall. From there it's all fun and games until someone pokes an eye out.

Free will, pure and simple. A person's mind, if you think about it, is a universe and a reality seperate from all other's for the simple fact that life is seen through each, individual person's perceptions, alone. Regardless of laws and rules and morality, the human being is a faulty, mistake making organism that's intelligent and self destructive by nature. Down through the ages, man existed to eat from, chop down, drink up from the earth and follow the violent examples of primitive enemies that were once above them on the food chain. Once above that line, humanity grew even more intelligent and creative but still operated on the old reflex of violence. So, when a modern man does something wrong intentionally he's thinking he's not going to get caught, so it will be okay. Just like eons ago when one caveman noticed nobody was looking decided to bash the boss in the head and blame it on falling rocks.
I guess people calculate it's worth the risk.

Ah... one of life's great mysteries.
I don't know, I think it's back to the old adage, "you don't know how good you have it until it's gone" and how true it is.
Some things just don't change, I guess.
That and taking things for granted, we get so caught up pursuing superficial pursuits that we overlook what's really important.

Easy is not fun, people want to feel they have a purpose and are not preprogrammed or boring. They want excitement.

The human mind and heart is far too complex to completely understand ourselves, we must depend on a greater power to truly be at peace.
The collective “worlds wisdom” (our wisdom) is flawed and self serving, that mankind may “esteem itself” and not “depend on” and acknowledge a greater power.
Mankind is so arrogant as to “think” it is God. Mankind says it knows everything and will eventually know everything.
If this is true then why the “search” ?
Did mankind put the “need” for the search together himself ?
Man does not labor by purpose. Man wants it “all” free and “perfect” in their sight, for themselves and for those they love. Unfortunately man tends to only love those that love him and hate anything or anyone that would pose a threat to his wants.
If mankind does not labor by purpose, then why not sit back and command all then “freeload” without toil, off our own “self” power ? Why work at all, just enjoy what we freely “will” for ourselves ?
I thought we were “gods” ??? Can’t we even do that ??? “Will” our desires into existence ?
Nope, I think “mankind” is a sissy “pretender” to the throne.
Each individual seems to want better than his neighbor and mankinds wants never end. Mankind is so stupid as to not see that it has always been this way, “survival of the fittest” he says, and each one of us considers himself the “fittest” and more deserving than another.
If you disagree then where is peace on earth ?
Peace in every place and inhabitant ?
Only love between each person for another regardless of who or what they are ?
Only each individual esteeming the other before himself ?
Mankind to be perfect, to have peace on earth like it always “say’s” it strives for, yet won’t let go of it’s own selfishness, first has to be of one mind, one desire, one common interest of peace or anything else.
To do this would require “true empathy” and sacrifice for others, to “truly” be able to feel anothers pain and be willing to help or suffer with them, be willing to dispose of his own self to become one with another.
Mankind at it’s best, individually, and collectively do great wonders that impress ourselves and others, but even collectively cannot achive a true miracle or have the supreme power to control anything beyond our short sightedness, not being able to know or control the future of ourselves or our existence.
We know the past and the past results should educate us, we are educated yet continue doing wrong to others, even ourselves, if we could truly see.
Where is our wisdom ? We have “knowledge” but no wisdom to apply it collectively.
Each person is unique with his own gifts, excelling over those in one area, yet overcome by anothers gift special to that individual, oddly enough we are born with and do not earn these gifts unique to each one of us.
If each human could rid himself of “himself”, would not it be a perfect world ?
God says it can and will happen at times to individuals, this is a choice we all have that is just to difficult, to do just for others, but this requires sacrifice, most humans distain sacrifice, I wonder why ?
Is it deniable that each human seeks his own ends ?
Right from birth to “almost”death it’s only his “own” viewpoint that is truly correct, his own “self”.
Isn’t it strange that we are born “knowing more than the other” ? and that this only progresses until we become aware of our own mortality, and with many not at all ?
Then, at least hopefully, we soon discover we aren’t quite as smart as we thought we are and “alas” we are at our end.
When we finally learn we are stupid and I’ll informed as to our “self righteousness” and influenced by a collective and individual society thinking it has always had the answers, when we finally realize society is truly “stupid” I believe this is the true time of learning.
Isn’t it strange that the bible tells us of all of this “ahead of time”, yet we ignore or renounce it’s words as if fantasy ? As we learn we discover we have been living in a fantasy, the truth was written for us to finally see, “if” we make the choice and are willing to face the struggles for doing so.
We were never offered a rose garden down here on the earth, just a choice by our own free will, are we God or not ?
Don’t ever ask me to “be a man” let me be a God seeker like I should have been from the start. But the bible says “ it is written” and so it is.
We should have read our and HIStory right from the start.
