Of course. I mean it seems that tough times and success seem to come hand in hand. Some may call him a womanizer and a junkie, but look at who else could fall into the category: guys like Ray Charles, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and many others. Every artist has tough times. It just depends how they respond to them. James Brown should be remembered as the Godfather of Soul. His contribution to the music industry is unlike many others. He basically invented soul music as we know it and had a style that had never been seen before. For all his faults, we must remember his accomplishments and may he rest in peace.

He was unfortunately NOT a good man in his personal life. He was something of an abusive, overdrugged dirt bag.

However, he did bring a lot of joy to the world through his music, and shared some significant generosity through charity.

Thee's nothing wrong with taking a favorable view of the deceased, and looking to forgive his shortcomings. You have to take the good with the bad, and make up your own mind, keeping in mind that what most of us know about JB is produced by the media.
