They are put there to mark the 100 spots, so you can give a glance at it and know that it is 100 or 100,000. it is placed for every 100 grouping.

Numbers can become very tedious to read when they contain a high amount of digits. We use the commas for reading purposes, so when we look at the numbers on paper we can easily determine what is what. The commas also tell us the place value of the number (tens, hundreds, thousands, etc) Try to read a 14 digit number without commas, and then with. You will see the difference.
Ex: 14,567,967,959,344
15879548345603

I think we use commas to understand the number because if you do it without the commas it is hard to read the number, especially if the number has a lot of zeros. im not sure about that but ask your teacher or something.

It's for the sake of subdividing the number by three's for convenient reading and writing and avoid usual confusion on the designation of what the digit is on. So you'll easily identify the thousands, millions, billions and so on.

I would guess it's to separate the larger numbers to make them more understandable. It's easier to read 1,000,000 than 1000000. Putting things in chunks helps the brain distinguish them from a big mass of confusion.

To tell, at a glance, how big the number is. Which one is easier and faster to understand?
1736543201
or
1,736,543,201
Clearly the second option is easier to read.

It makes it very easy to disinguish how many zeros there are and also seperates the hundreds from the thousands to the hundreds of thousands to the millions, to the billions......etc

its just so we dont get lost in counting all of the digets. they dont mean anything. 1000000000 is the same as 1,000,000,000. One is just much easier to read than the other.
