I own a 1992 Honda Accord LX (125,000 miles). It seems that when I drive it for a while it gradually loses power. I'm just wondering if this could be my imagination or could something be happening in the combustion chamber that could prevent the spark plugs from firing....?? I have no idea, but I want to know what an expert thinks about this or just from someone who had a similar incident. How can I correct this? If I install non-foul adapters, can this rob more power from my engine? I know they do help the spark plugs produce a better spark, but not sure how installing them can affect the overall engine performance. Thank you very much for all ofyour responses. Have a great day!

Just replace the P.O.S with a Mustang or any American car.

best way is to take it to a mechanic for them to check it out. Sounds like a goofy problem , but I guess it could exist.

also, it could be from the engine warming up, so the incoming air gets hotter, which does make less power, although not substantially.

could just be the fact that there wasnt much power to begin with :P

First thing I would check is the fuel filter. You should be able to feel a misfiring engine if you are not getting proper spark/combustion.

Mustangs are nothing. they only have 6 cylinders. I have V* Trans Am.

Anyway, I don't know about this problem. I have one theory. Dirty gas, as you drive gas collects on the fule filter. As the car sets, some of it falls back. So it might go ok for a little while, then start to get less gas.

sounds as simple as a vacuum hose. This happened on my 89 accord and it cost me about $20 to fix. It was well worth the $65 diagnostic test they did.

With no trouble lite on I would look at the throttleposition sensor. I believe the '92 year has one.
