All the way through Honors Chemistry and Advanced Physics I got together with a group of four guys to study for tests, do labs and other homework. Three of us sort of understand what was going on, but we heavily relied on one guy to teach us just about everything.

He had no reason to come to our group because he already knew how to do all the problems without anyone's help. This guy would spend at least 5 to 10 hours a week helping us not so smart guys out.

There is no way I can ever thank this guy enough for what he's done for us, but I was still hoping to do at least something. Only problem is I have no idea what to do. I had a party last year for our group so that's out of the question.

If you have any ideas at all please let me know.

How about a gift certificate to a book store?
Or to a restaurant and you can all go together at YOUR expense - or the other boys can chip in and treat the smartest fellow - who could marry my daughter if he wants!!! JK.

He is a true friend and maybe should take up teaching or tutoring for money in the future. Well done to find such a great guy, and for wanting to 'reward' him. He will be grateful.

Does your school have a system where you might nominate him for "Student of the Year" or anything like that? Maybe you can write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper thanking him publicly. Does your school have any scholarships that students nominate other students for? Maybe you could nominate him for something like that. Maybe you could copy your question here on Yahoo! Answers and send it to his e-mail with a big "For you, buddy" on the subject line. Anthing you can think of to acknowledge how his dedication really meant something to you will serve the purpose. He sounds like the kind of person who will be touched by your gratitude and fulfilled by knowing what a role he played in helping you.

Write him a letter-not an e-mail or type something up. Hand write it. It will likely be something he will treasure.

Also, bake him some cookies-everyone likes cookies.
