As in not a republic democracy, like the U.S, but where every decision is made by the people and no one else. Not where people vote for who decides for them, (and those people could end up making decisions opposite of what the people want) but where the people, truly, run the country.

I am not ranting even though it may seem like it. This is a real question and I don't mean to offend anyone.

Just curious.

That's a tough question. There is just no 'true' democracy. You ask about a country where people truly run the country. This situation would cause much more tyranny... as there is nothing to govern this body of people. Nothing to protect the rights of the people. If I understand you correctly, you reference a body of people governing themselves and running the country. My question is.. How do you decide which of those people are right? A single country can only be truly run by its 'people,' if it's 'people' is only one person. No body of people will ever agree on every decision all the time. So in fact, a 'true democracy' as you put it - will pretty quickly result in a majority-influencing body. Which in turn, winds up being another form of democracy - wherein a body or unit (elected or otherwise) of people, will put themselves (or be put in) a position to decide what the 'majority' of it's people want. Which of course, leaves some people not getting what they want. This is in some ways, very similar to the governing body of our country. Only in the U.S., which is a constitutional republic, majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law.

A little closer possibly, to what you're gettign at, may be what's known as Consensus democracy. Consensus democracy is the application of consensus decision making to the process of legislation in a democracy. It is characterized by a decision making structure which involves and takes into account as broad a range of opinions as possible, as opposed to systems where minority opinions can potentially be ignored by vote-winning majorities. It also features increased citizen participation both in determining the political agenda and in the decision making process itself. Some have pointed to developments in communications technology as potential facilitators of such systems. Consensus democracy is most closely embodied in certain Western European countries such as Switzerland.

As convoluted as some of the information seems, perhaps some of it was informative.

Let's hope not:

Democracy:
The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of a Democracy is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man.

A Republic:
A Republic, on the other hand, has a very different purpose and an entirely different form, or system, of government. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individual’s God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution--adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment--with its powers divided between three separate Branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here the term "the people" means, of course, the electorate.

Philippines is a country with true democracy because the people have unlimited rights. An abusive President can be changed by the people through a revolution. Everybody can do anything and it is the reason why it is not improving economically. I hope that the Filipino mentality will change for the good. There is still hope.

not that I know of, the US is a democracy true but the people in the government rarely vote the way the people would want but they do manage to vote for the interests of the rich such as big corporations and such that pad their pockets, so I could not say as i ever heard of a country where there is actual democracy
