I would base it on what you can afford. The North West/North East...basically "The North" side of San Antonio is considered "a nice area."

Try the Northwest side, try to stay away from 281 and 1604 because the traffic there is hideous. There are a lot of nice neighbourhoods near Wurzbach and I-10, the East side of I-10, the west side is mostly commercial.

I live on the northwest side near I-10 and Huebner and really like it. Stone Oak is a very nice area, though getting a bit crowded. There are several good suburban towns, also. Helotes is good, as is Boerne.

If you looking for the best area in regards to affluance and schools, the North Central part of of town is probably the best. It has a lot of new schools and soaring home values. There is also plenty of shopping areas and restaurants in the area.

Northside Isd is a good school district and the area around UTSA is nice. Traffic will suck though on IH-10 and loop 1604
