Yes, Gore won the popular vote. But because of the Electoral Collge Bush one. Look up the Electoral College.
This is why Bush one in a nutshell: (Just and EXAMPLE) See, each state has a certain number of votes. For instance if Rhode Island has 4 points and Hawaii has 4 points (lets say they have about .5 million people together) and Oklahoma has 7 points ( having 1.5 million people), and Rhode Island and Hawaii elect Bush, and Oklahoma elects Gore. Who has the most points? Bush. Because 4+4= 8. and Oklahoma only had 7 points.
Just look up the electoral college.
And when you do, you'll also find out that its not really the poeple that elect the president, its congress. Have fun!

Yes Al Gore did win the popular vote for the 2000 election.
GWB is the president because the president is not decided by popular vote it is decided by the electoral college. Each state is given a certain number of votes for the electoral college. The candidate has to win the popular vote in a state to receive that states electoral college votes. All a candidate has to do is win a certain amount of key states in order to win because the states do not have the same amount of votes for the electoral college.
So while Gore was most popular with the overall votes, GWB won those key states that gave him more electoral college votes than Gore which is what made him the winner.

"Ever since the presidential election of 2000 put the words 'hanging chad' into the lexicon, states are going high-tech."[1] The switch to computerized systems is to elminate the problems with older voting methods such as punch card ballots. "Punch cards, remember, can...be rigged, by selectively die-cutting so that some chads dislodge more easily than others."[2]
The new computerized voting machines are supposed to eliminate voter fraud, but do they? "Computer programmers say software bugs, hackers or electrical failures could cause more than 50,000 touch-screen machines used in precincts nationwide to delete or alter votes."[3]
...
The few corporations managing voting across the United States and the world have employed convicted criminals to create faulty equipment with which people use to vote. The outcomes of future elections depend on these company's integrity which has already been proven questionable.
Will our votes be counted or will computers pretend to record them without providing a true record of the actual numbers all the while skewing the results ...

Yes, Al Gore was chosen by the popular vote to be President, but the popular vote didn't count, the Electoral College did. And they say this is Democracy!

There is only one vote that counts which is the electoral votes and GWBush won fair and square, thank goodness. I can't imagine what Al Gore would have done about 9/11. He was not strong enough to be the president. This is old, old news and is talked out. Get over it.

Who is Al Goore? Is that a typo or some sort of play on words? Either way, you're about 6 years too late there, buddy. I'm sure this was hotly debated back then.

sure he did, but it is possible to win popular vote and not electoral vote, it wil always be very close in these rare occasions though. It has happened before in american history. and GW is president now because they had another election in 2004 and he won electoral vote then also. (and the popular vote)
