Are you pregnant with twins or have gestational diabetes?

Just an fyi- a c-section hurts like burning hell. You should be prepared to be in the hospital for at least 4 days and in bed at home for another week. If you can get a little seat for in the shower- you won't regret it. I nearly fainted from the pain and trying to wash over those stitches.

Wow...I had to answer this question. I have no idea what your situation is or why you would be facing such an early delivery but I had to tell you the other side of Cesarean childbirth! I had all four of my babies that way and would not do it any other way if I could! I was awake for all the births, I got to see my babies born and even got to nurse them in the operating room. There is some pain after the surgery but they give you fabulous medication in the hospital and the more you move and walk around the less it will hurt. I was home in three days and never stayed in bed after I got home , unless it was just to nurse the baby and be lazy. I did not need pain meds after I got home either. I do not have a high pain tolerance or anything, it is just a matter of being prepared ( I did take classes). I just wanted to tell you that the pain is NOT horrific and there is nothing to be afraid of. Just be sure to have a spinal so that the feeling comes back gradually instead of all at once! There are lots of things that you can do to help yourself. Be sure to breastfeed as that does give you one less thing to have to mess with when you get home. No bottles to clean or wash or sterilize. No expensive, stinky formula for them to spit up all the time. No rubber nipples to sterilize either. Just curl up in bed with your baby and rest and sleep and nurse and sleep. It is wonderful. Feel free to write to me for more advice if you would like.
Take care and don't believe everything you hear, I think some people just like to talk about how much they have suffered!
Take care honey and good luck with what ever is causing your problems.
Blessings
Lady T~

C-sections are pretty commonplace now-a-days. When the time comes for your section, it always helps to have family support. They can sometimes make the experience a very positive one. One suggestion about family...you only need one family member present for the actual c-section...two at the max!!! Believe me...you will be doing your surgical staff a favor if family members are not underfoot in the operating room. Besides...the more people that are in the room, the higher the risk for infection.
But to ease your mind a bit, the hospital staff are very professional and have does this many times so you and your baby should be in safe hands.
