Say for example: 2 spaceships leave earth 1 from the northpole & the other from the southpole. Surely if they traveled to say jupitar & back Without rotating their ship. Then they met up near the moon they would still be the upside down to each other?

Because our tiny minds cannot grasp the concept of gravity in space.

Everything is the "right" way up on Earth so we expect it to be the same in space and the media just reinforce the notion to stop our heads from exploding.

You're asking a technical question. When the astronauts came back from space in the sixties, they always had their backs towards earth...not because they thought we're losers, but the heat shield was on that side of the craft...better to watch the smoke going past 'ya than see the sights in Australia and fry like a cheeseburger.

Really, Hollywood lacks imagination doesn't it?

Largely because when you watch a movie it gets to be annoying to see space ships with utterly odd orientations, even though you are quite right that the same orientation all the time is odd.

Your right, of course. But don't forget that it would be confusing for some people to understand what they were seeing. These same people, for example, believe that all aliens will be basically humanoid with slight indentations on the bridge of the nose.
