Look at it this way:
Wealthy people can eat where ever they want. For instance, foie gras is horrible for you, but only the wealthy can afford it. Wealth often brings decadence, and with decadence comes a load of rich (so to speak) foods.
Poor people, or maybe more accurately, people who are unable to avoid major financial problems like debt (I'm included in this category) also tend to lack self control; therefore, they are more likely to overeat.
Now I admit these are broad statements, but having known several wealthy and several poor people, I see obesity on both sides of the fence.
EDIT:
Some of these responses tend to equate intelligence with wealth. That is quite inaccurate. Rich people are not smarter, and Paris Hilton should be evidence enough of that.

There is not a simple yes or no answer to your question. Extreme poverty can lead to a lack of sufficient food, which would be negatively correlated with obesity. People who are extremely poor also often have jobs that require heavy physical labor. For example, road construction in India is often performed in part by very poor women.
Poor people in some wealthy nations like the United States often have to resort to eating fast food and processed foods for a variety of reasons including lack of education, lack of time due to being overworked, not having resources to hire help for childcare, and not receiving decent medical care. So you would see a positive correlation.
So you would not likely get a linear correlation between wealth and obesity from a data set that included a variety of populations. A multivariate analysis would help unravel the different factors.

I was at a doctors office getting some paperwork and Dr. Gupta was on the TV and there was a segment about something or another deserts. Places where there are no grocery stores. These places had more fast food joints than you could shake a stick at and these people had to travel, sometimes across state lines, to find a grocery store. Statistics say that these people were 30% less likely to eat 5 servings of fruits a day. Sadly these areas are mostly urban areas. Needless to say, obesity is rampant in those areas.

Logically, there is some correlation. Rich people have money to buy food, and therefore can (and sometimes do) become obese. Poor people lack money to buy food, and therefore can be rather skinny. However, some poor people can also be obese, and some rich people can also be skinny. It is just simple logic. There is SOME correlation, but not a direct, overall, general one.

I think someone with wealth normally has a better education, able to purchase healthier food, and have the means of joining the gym or fitness center. Individuals that are poor normally have to buy food that fit their budget (which are not always healthy), do not have the time or money for physical exercise, and lack the education of what is healthy and not. I do believe there is a significant correlation.

Sorry, that is nonsense. Poor humans are fats becaue they can't have enough money the purchase the identical meals because the wealty. They can't consume out in satisfactory meals eating places in order that they consume rapid meals. You can get a burger for a dollar. Wealthy humans are skinny in view that they may be able to have enough money to look the dietician, cross to the gymnasium, have a individual teacher or a individual chef. They can consume natural and organic, low sugar and occasional fats meals. They can have enough money shrimp each night time. Now I will shoot your philosophy to heck. I used to be born in a deficient deficient loved ones. We ate tons of pinto beans, rice, cormeal, scorching puppies and hamburgers and white bread. I grew up on that junk and bought fats. Yes, I have the fats genes and if you get fats you combat it such a lot of your existence. The fats cells may also be small or big however they're consistently there except you employ Liposuction. When you consume correct they curb and whilst you consume dangerous they get large. Simple as that. I had a first-rate time in mid-existence whilst I bought great and skinny and existence used to be grand. Then I hit forty five and the burden began creaping on. It used to be tough to quit. As you get heavier it turns into tougher to see and then you definately get heavier. I am rich, a self-made millionaire and sure, I am heavy. I have owned many companies my entire existence after graduating university. Each one used to be a unique good fortune and I nonetheless earn a living on all my investments. I am 50 not paintings and consult with this web site to check out to support others. I labored tough to get rich and it used to be tons of dicipline not to spend cash like such a lot younger humans do. I attempt to acquire cash the historic common manner. So there is going that therory. I am rich and I am fats. And this laptop isn't serving to me a lot. Good Luck in your seek.

Yes, I think that wealthy women have much more time on their hands to work out, and they have more funds to help them get trainers, etc. Also, the healthier foods cost more than the unhealthy ones.

i think so. if u could afford anything u want, u might gain a few pounds too. on the other hand, lack of money can spark bad bouts of depression, causing some people to eat excessively.
