My mom or dad's cell phone rings whilst she/he's driving. She/he passes it to me to check the caller ID (was expecting my brother's text message/call to pick him from the mall) Of course the ID nbr. would be completely unfamiliar to me since it wasn't my brother's. Besides, it was a text. Suddenly, my parent asked for the cell phone to be handed back to her/him, and I did. I only saw the (nice) number (long distance) and remembered it. Then when she/he asked "who was that from" and the quick answer was "an insurance agent" . I felt very suspicious. Should you try calling that number to find out if the parent is up to no good or "playing" hooky ? Or better to just leave it. help... what's the best thing to do now?

The best thing to do is to respect your parents privacy as you expect you parents to respect yours. Sometimes what you don't know is better than what you know. They are your parents, trust them until given a good reason not to.

That's tough. Call the number but block your id. If you find out your parents are "playing" hooky.................tell a sibling and figure out what to do together.

let it go for right now, but if she keeps doing suspicious things like that, then you might want to do something.
