noise from heater core ,may be caused by restricted flow to it or possibly low coolant level. also might sound a littleodd but too much flow to some gm vehicles, mainly trucks suffer from this problem if the "restrictor" has deteriorated. This is the fitting at rear of intake manifold/pressure side . If heat is good you can choose to ignore this noise many people do,,however if the core is restricted, manual flushing of core may do the trick. Also don't forget to replace the coolant.Sounds like a lot of variables but these are common causes, good luck.

your 17 yr old truck probably has a 17 yr old radiator cap that isnt releasing presure into the purge tank in addition to being low on coolant thus causing gurgling nioses under the dash . or a bad heater control valve . also check your floor boards and make sure your heater core aint leaking all possibilities oh one more ting the thermosstat may not be opening fully causing improper flow of coolant

That gurggling noise is the radiator coolant in your heater core trying to circulate. This noise usually starts not too long before your heater core fails.
