To a typical teenager? Blah, blah, blah, blah. Let's make things better so that I can have a better life for me me me me me. **** the starving and the poor. **** y'all. Go make my life better. Rock the suburbs and sterilise the stupid!
Teens should be able to understand the original though, I just don't think they'll care very much. Not all, but most teenagers are sort of idiots. Besides, dumbing it down contradicts your paragraph.

Don't dumb it down. You would be doing the kids in your class a disservice by doing so. Making kids think is a good thing..Its called teaching

I don't know. I would have understood that when I was a teen. I don't really think it needs to be re-written.
