This is just a normal stove - it has a black enamel finish that has something that appears to be baked on. Is there something I can let sit overnight on it to make for less scrubbing?

Thans for your help.

I like to soak it a little first - wet wash cloth or towel, which makes it easy to clean - I'm a firm believer and taking the way involving less work. The little catcher things under the burners I put in the self cleaning oven because they're just gross and I'm tired of scrubbing them. :) Then I just use dish soap to cut the grease, a plastic scrubber so as to not scratch the finish, and if it's a black stove, I use windex and paper towel to shine it all up.

Saw this on a PBS show. A mixture of alum (a spice used to make pickles) and vingar. Let soak for a few min. then scrub with a scotch brite or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It even cleaned up my 30 year old copper bottomed Revere Ware.

A brillo or SOS pad. Keep it fairly wet and nice and soapy so it doesn't scratch the finish. A trick I learned about storing a used soap pad is to keep it in a empty margarine cup covered with a little water. You'll have this nice think gel looking stuff that is great for cleaning just about anything.

Soft scrub works great without scratching like Brillo or Scotch Brite will. Also, if it is really greasy, try a paste of Dawn detergent and baking soda. Rub in with a soft cloth. Wipe away excess, them wipe with a damp rag.

Easy-off makes a stove top cleaner. I have used this and it works great.
