How can you honestly say that the 'somebody else' is'nt who you are? We behave differntly in differnt situations, it's not pretentious to act differently around our friends than we would around our family. You're still the same person, but just displaying a different facade of your persona under the alternative situation.

It's not abnormal to not be blissfully happy all the time. I think the description 'happy' is too vague. Take me, right now, sitting here composing this paragraph. I'm not blissfully happy, but i'm comfortable. My life is'nt retricted to just this, I do go out and have 'fun', but sometimes I still want to do basic things. Neither of these activites are pretentious --after all, they are both things which I want to do.

If you're happy, it suggests that it's something you enjoy doing. If it's in your personality to enjoy it, surely, you are still being yourself.

It depends on what being yourself is. If its cruel or something unacceptable then don't be someone Else just improve yourself.
Being another is never a good solution since the fantasy has to end sooner or later. Being yourself and making improvements may be harder but has lasting effects of happiness

I would much rather be myself and be all the emotions that I can be. You know the whole package, the highs and the lows -EVERYTHING. I'm npt afraid of who I am and nor am I ashamed of who I am and neither should you be and you knows something my "mom" and "sister" at one point in my life gained up on me and ripped me to shredds - no I'm not a lesbian either. Itnever stopped me; only made me stronger and more determined to be who I truly am.

You are what you are. You can't be someone else, but often you have to make compromises. That is called socially skilled.

The only people who are truly themselves, are homeless people. Everyone else makes some accommodations for others.
