I just read that they are going to ban girls who have a body mass index equivalent to 121 pounds with a height of 5'7". I am so relieved that people are FINALLY taking measures to correct this sickening issue.

I don't agree with those rules. Being skinny and have eating disorder is different. Many have a very strict diet and still fat, but many eat a lot and still thin (like me). It's education that's more important. And, usually those girls are skinny even before they become a model, and they have an army of nutritionist and personal trainers to keep that figure. That's rarely exposed on gossip mags. Anorexics models died maybe only less than 1 case of 1000 dead of anorexia cases.
You can't deny that those clothes looks better on skinny models. Dress looks better hanging on poking hip bones than hanging on flabby beer belly.
If skinny models banned from the runway, why don't the plus models are still there? It's not fair.
In my opinion, it should be balanced. Let there be skinny, medium, and plus models there. (of course you need to construct a lot of support under the runway if you plan to walk more than 20 models that each weight more than 200 pounds :) )

skinny-ness has not something to do with modelling, its the stroll, and for some reason the bone shape on the face, bleh skinny human beings dont looktoo stable in some clothing the two, btw im skinny, im in simple terms asserting, goo fattys!:D

I think it is wrong to discriminate against overly skinny models. If these models choose to be dangerously thin, they let them do it. The same goes for overweight people. They have the choice to be big [fat] or not. Unfortunately, some people make the choice to be dangerously overweight. On the other hand, it is also the fashion designer's fault for preferring these overly-skinny models.

I agree with you. For way too many years now, the 'skinny models' have been viewed as having perfect bodies. But I think they look sickly!! Ugh!! It would be nice to see models who actually look like an 'average' woman.

Yes, I agree with you. I am 5' and weigh 78lbs, but i'm a teenager and still growing. I have always been small, and I eat like a pig, so the doctor attributed it to a high metabolism. I am glad, becuase girls will have a visit with reality, and have a better body image if they think being a healthy weight is cool.

Hopefully, this is a start to changing the mentality of people in society, that being unrealistically skinny is somehow desirable. I, too am glad, and I really hope that we start seeing "average" models.

well its a good/bad thing. its good because so many girls will be saved by the deathly claw of anorexia. they won't have the pressure of being skinny.
but the bad part is people who are naturally skinny (like my grandma who is 5'5 and 106 lbs) and can't do anything about it will be discriminated and won't be allowed to do their dream job. (my grandma's not a model though) so its bittersweet.
