it may let you lose weight...HOWEVER it kills your metabolism, it slows it down, so then once you start eating again your more likely to gain weight more easily...

but if you stop eating completely you will lose weight because your body will eat off what you have, and you lose your muscle which will turn into fat which your body will feed off of once u stop eating.

so yes you will lose weight, but in the end you gain weight easier when you start eating again...either way its UNHEALTHY! (i kno u said you werent going to, but its still unhealthy! lol)

'Starving' will cause a couple pounds of water weight to drop off rapidly and perhaps another pound or two by emptying the bowels.

It will also weaken the heart, endanger the entire immune system, drive the pituitary gland crazy, annoy the dickens out of the kidneys and urinary tract system, threaten emotional well-being, introduce the dangers of dehydration and then, just for fun, trigger ketoacidosis.

After that, weight changes seem rather anti-climactic.

Oh .. the weight will not stay off .. the gorging that will .. eventually... be triggered by the starving will replace the lost pounds and then some. Only a regular balanced diet combined with exercise will manage weight in the long run. So, in a way, you are all correct.

At first you will lose weight. But when you go back to eating, not only will your body put back on all that you lost, but it will add some more as well.

The reason for that is that when you starve yourself you reset your brain. The next time your body gets food, the brain says, "Turn it to fat and save it for the next starvation period!".

The best way to lose weight is to cut back a little on how much you eat while increasing a your activity level a little bit. That way your body won't go into starvation mode.

Starving makes you gain weight. You end up overeating from starving yourself.

If you continue to starve yourself, you will lose weight. Your body will use muscle to feed itself.

Your metabolism will slow down, so when you begin to eat a little, it will make you gain weight.
Also, if you starve yourself, then eat something, it will show on your stomach a lot.

If you are bulimic, you will gain weight.
If you starve then binge, you will gain weight.

You're both right. When you starve yourself, your body tries to hold onto everything, thats also why when you start drinking water when you havent in awhile, you'll feel bloated for a week or so. Your body doesnt know when the next meal is going to be...or when the next time you'll get water, so it slows your metabolism to hold onto your energy.

But overall you'll lose weight because basically your body is eating itself to keep going.

Short term-Gain

Long term- Loose

You will eventually lose weight eventually but not as fast as when you eat healthy and work out. Starving yourself stops your metabolism so your body will hold onto the fat that you do have.

short term fasting was done since biblical times to cleanse the body and clear the mind, but frequent cycles will cause you to gain weight because your body will store fat for the next famine. eating a little every 3-4 hrs is the best for losing weight.
