I want to find a bunch of freshwater fish that look saltwater for my fake saltwater tank. I am getting fake corals, sea anenomes, starfish, sea urchin, backgrounds, everything to make my tank look like a saltwatertank. I want bright, peacefull community fish, no cichlids or oscars please! Thanks So Much

Try puffers and or dwarf puffers. EEls, hermit crabs, etc. Remember not to overload your tank. Use only acrylic corals and NO real sea shells or dead coral. Honestly, ifyou are going to go thru that much trouble, you would be suprised as to how easy a salt tank can be.
Check out: http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/bcorsettingup/a/blqachklist_2.htm
you may find it easier than you think.
Good luck.

Its a nice idea but not really practical.
You could pretend that a clown loach is a clown, You could sell your soul for some fresh water gobies. Angels could be cardinals. King Crabs stay in the water all the time. Kuli loaches could be eels, get some shrimp (SO many kinds, just not ghosts since they are hard to see.) Some Scats look kind of marine. As do Australian Blue-eyes if you could find them.
If you want to match shape, you can get close, but freshwater just doesn't support colour like the ocean. The most colourful are going to be african cichilds and the tank is to small for most of them to to have very many.
Good Luck.

Maybe try paradise fish, gouramis, and freshwater puffers. Just make sure not to put two male paradise fish together, they will fight. I think besides cichlids, gouramis are the most amount of color you can get in a freshwater tank. Try maybe a powder blue, or male dwarf gourami.

i like silver dollars and black fin sharks, the kissing gouramis are cool too, you can even add a little , "freshwater aquarium salt" for them, it keeps them healthy, without actually being a saltwater tank.

try african cichlids they are rich in color like saltwater fish. If you thing you can handle the work try discus, which are the are probably regarded as the most beatiful fish in the hobby.
