Nanos are the replacements for the Minis - Apple is slowly integrating them out. That's why they're so cheap. I had one for 7 months and it worked flawlessly until I decided I wanted an upgrade.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them. Like you said, they are less popular because the Nano's are getting more storage capacity and are smaller in size. As far as capabilities, they should be the same. The sound quality is going to be the same between the models.

Has been a ipod suporter !! Mini IPOD are just inferior in terms of quality in sound

they are cheap because they are only useful in music.
nanos are useful in games and videos. they far too tehnologically advanced to not get the mini to be cheap.
