I got my answer on not loosing anything on my slave drive when I replace the master. But do I attach the slave before or after I reformat the new master drive? My husband thinks he should just do the master, when everything is up and running then re-attach the slave drive. But I'm afraid the new master wont like that. Help!

If the one that is going to be the slave was a slave before, it won't matter if you connect it before or after. Personally, I would do it after - I like to have as few variables in use during a clean install as possible. Then once I've got it up, I add one at a time. That way if there IS a problem, you know exactly what caused it.

after, because u cant open the PC and formatting the master.
u have to put the master in another PC as a slave to format it,but if u will not format the system so u format it on ur pcand can plug the slave but be careful not mix the drives or the slave and the master.so it is better to plug it after firmat.

UN plug the slave completely the cables power and IEE cable. install the new drive after you make it master, it comes as master any way , format it install windows on it start computer every thing OK then install the slave.
I might sound old fashion but I went through that I learned the hard way.

Why fuss? Connect the slave, now! Just obey the menu commands for partitioning. Now!
