Many people who were 'actucally' in Iraq say what the media reports in the US and whats actually going on are completely two different stories. Do you think the Media is giving the full the story?

They are NOT giving the full story. My husband was in Iraq and there was a LOT of good going on. The media does not want to show the good b/c it does not attract the attention that they need for ratings!!!! Stinks doesn't it! :)

Actually there are no positives in any war, maybe just some better than other negatives. Each media venue is reporting based upon their own political biases. You can tell when you read something or hear how current events are represented by say a particular television network whether the owners are Democrats or Republicans. I would rely more on what the soldiers fighting in Iraq have to say. Not the Officers necessarily, the actual soldiers. Just like every War that's ever been, they are the ones that REALLY know.

In today's world only the negatives get headlines. If they spent more time telling about the good done over there and the hard work our young people are doing perhaps the national feelings would be greatly different. Do not blame the people in Iraq for poor planning. That is Bush's fault as well as the Generals and the secretary of defense. A little look at history should have told them to leave certain things in place. Especially the lower ranks of the army from about regimental commanders down.
Remember how they jumped on MacArthur and Patton for using former enemies to hold up the recovering countries after WWII. That is what should have been used as a guide in planning the last campaign.

I think they report more of the good things than they do the bad. You rarely see what the war has done to the people who live there. How many Iraqi's have died? We get daily updates on how many US soldiers have been killed. Why don't we ever hear updates on how many Iraqi citizen's have died? Also, why is it that we never hear how many US soldiers have been injured? Is it maybe because that number is so high that it might cast a negative light on the war?

So, while the media is probably omitting positives of the Iraq war, its omitting so many more negative aspects to the war.

depends on which station you are watching. I think the whole thing would go a lot better if the media wasn't there scrutinizing every move of a soldier. They're in war, not everything they do is going to be morally right, or politically correct. that being said, I think the media has alterior motives when they report, ratings and such. Causing a stir is what make poeple watch. I don't believe a single word of it.

Hell yes they are omitting the whole story. I got back in November, and a lot of the people are so happy that we are over there. We are doing good to their country. The media doesn't even know whats going on over there!

no. not at all. i've seen pictures of the positive side of Iraq (often called pictures to graphic for CNN, CBS, MSNBC) nothing like the media reports. pictures so sweet you can't help but smile, but then when i turn on the news it reports nothing but negative. blah blah die in bla bla reason. it's sickening. show some positive (like the pictures) on CNN. people wouldn't be hating bush if it weren't for the media. the media is nothing but propaganda and since they attack everything bush says/does he can't do his job. just get over it. put positive on every once in a while.

I don't think that the media is omitting the positives - I know that they are. Have you spoken to anyone that's been there? They tell the real story!
