Spark on #1 and 3 is very strong. Spark on 2 is not visible but when I remove from spark plug while engine is running the engine dies.
I'm wondering if there's a way to check the spark unit or pulse generator before spending too much coin.

--I know you meant you removed the spark plug cap.
--Remove all the spark plug caps from the spark plugs when doing these tests to keep the enging from running.
--The simplist way to check the spark units is to switch them around (plug the left in the right connector and the right in the left connector). If your spark problem changes to the other coil, than that spark unit is bad.
--If the spark units are OK, then check the pulse generator in the same fashion. Unplug the pulse generator. You can either remove both terminals from one of the connectors and plug the terminals directly into the other connector, or use a jumper wire (or paper clip or thin cotter pin and jamb it into the rear of the connectors) to reverse the connections (while it's still unplugged). If the spark problem changes then the pulse generator is bad.
--Reconnect the pulse generator and check the spark plug wires and spark plug caps. Remove a known working wire and cap from it's coil. At the coil, unscrew the plastic cap. Then remove the wire. I forget if it's pushed in or the coil has a screw sticking out and you should unscrew the wire. While you're pulling out the wire, twist it as if you were unscrewing it to be safe. Then insert that wire in the "bad spark" coil.
--Then reverse that test. Put the "bad spark" wire and spark plug cap in one of the good positions, to check if that wire and cap is OK.
--If one is bad, then a spark plug cap could be bad or not making a good connection to it's wire. Unscrew the cap from it's wire, screw a good cap on and retest (vice-versa again to make sure the caps are OK).
--If the caps check out, cut 1/4" from the end of the wire, screw the cap back in and retest.
--If non of these tests will tell you the problem, then the coil is probably bad and should be checked.
--This should be enough to keep you busy for a while.

Swap the coils and see if the bad spark moves to 1 and 3. You have what they call a wasted spark system. One coil fires two plugs at once every 360 degrees. the cylinders get a wasted spark at the top of the exhaust stroke. It lets you use two coils to run four cylinders with no distributor.

Sounds like a bad coil. Cylinders 1&3 are on one coil, 2&4 on the other. Could also be the CDI unit. One for each coil. Instead of buying parts to do a substitution check, try swapping them from the good side to the other one. Then just replace the failed part.

No, no, no. The insulation resistance of the ignition cables are damaged down. This causes the misfiring. replace them now and may want to besides replace the spark plugs at the same time. Do you heavily imagine a 4 cyclinder engine is being operated on 3 cyclinder does not reason damages? Your cam shift might want to be the first to bypass.

Sounds like a bad condenser ground or bad coil ground.Check for clean tight connection. On that year of Gold Wing if they cut out generally it is the O-rings in the carburetor.

did you replace the spark plug? If not, check the coil pack/distributer (not familiar with that vehicle).

and WTF are you doing taking the ******* spark plug of a running engine out? HORRIBLE IDEA.
