If you were to rank yourself out of 100 people. 100 being the smartest and 0 being the least. Where would you fit in? Technically speaking half the people you meet should have an IQ of 99 or less. Interestingly enough I have yet to meet someone that claimed to have an IQ below 100.

I've been pretty shocked at the stupidity of a lot of answers on this website. Particularly in the politics section. But these people seem to have strong confidence in their opinions.

LOL. Funny. Not many people under 50 on here, or anywhere for that matter. I wonder where half the population is??

Interesting thoughts. Noone is going to proclaim their mediocre or low iq's. Few people with high iq's are going to brag about their's either, but at least it's something positive. Think for a few minutes about the kids that you graduated from high school with; how many do you think were "smart?" Even in college, how many of those? How about those you work with? The fact is that there are a ton of normal functioning people with average intelligence. Here's another tidbit, the State of Washington recognizes retardation at the iq level of 70 and there are plenty at or below that level. I used to go to Mensa meetings, but gave up because the people tend to be the same as the rest, there is no magic in being gifted. The magic is in doing the best with what you have to work with.

Half the people I meet should have an IQ of 99 or less? I think you mean that half the people in our country or world should have an IQ of 99 or less. It doesn't mean I'll meet any or most of them!

I figure for you to ask this question must mean you would place yourself at or near the 100 mark?? I think being smart enough to know that you don't know everything is someone who is closer to 100.

Intelligence tests don't measure what you know. They measure the ability of a person to learn! Having said that, I'd say I'm at about 90 on your scale of 100. I admit there are some concepts I was never able to grasp, but there are many more that I'd figured out on my own and been told I'm right by friends knowledgeable in those areas.

I also think that ALMOST EVERYONE who has posted to this erred on the side of caution and knocked themselves down a few points. They might not have wanted to appear too conceited and most tend to be their own worst critic.

I guess I'd put myself around 85-90 based on the bell curve on an IQ test meaning I think I'd be smarter than that many of the 100 people. However, most of the lower IQ people wouldn't be out and about to get picked up by your random 100 people so my # might fall to a sad sounding 70.

Disclaimer: IQ doesn't mean you know what to do with it or that you have the motivation to do it.

Err I've never heard about the 99 IQ thing. However, there are hundreds of amazingly smart people in the world with low IQ's (my math teacher being one) simply because the IQ test has so many questions that play with words that don't translate right or just don't make sense to people whose first language isn't English. IQ isn't a true measure of your intelligence, you know.

As for the answer to your question. From what I've experienced of the world with people of my own age group somewhere between the high eighties and mid-nineties. With all people in general probably more like somewhere between high seventies to mid-eighties.

My answer depends on which 100 people. When I'm at work, I feel surrounded by morons. When I'm at home I feel like I'm the moron. It's strange, because my ex is a genius and my kids are not genius, but they are within a few points of it. They make me feel kinda dense sometimes. I am above average intelligence and I know better, but knowing doesn't change anything. I guess I can't really answer this question.

I would rank myself 72 out of 100. I'm smart enough to know there's a lot I don't know. I'm also smart enough not to answer questions about which I know nothing.

I would put myself in the 50's - 60's range but people who know me would definitely say 90's.

I consider myself average intelligence. It is the family and friends that say I am way too humble.
