My son was 13 months old when I took him to see "People under the stairs". He loved it, never took his eyes off the screen. MY second son the same. they are now 15 and 16 and we still go to all the new Horror films we can. I was raised on scary movies and I raised my kids on them too. I still get the creeps after I see a good scary one. That's the point of scary movies. I agree with you that you should be able to watch the whole movie because it will creep you out if you don't finish but it will also creep you out if you finish it if it was good. Your parents are trying to keep you from having nightmares that's all. The only reason I let my kids watch at a young age is because they liked them, and they still do.

I watch them with a blanket draped across my lap, some kind of snack (not popcornEWW) beside me, all the lights off in the middle of the night all alone. However I never seem to be scared. Horror movies suck anymore. I'm more of a gore girl. The more gore the better. A good head shot does the trick for me everytime.

After "the silence of the lambs" I just don't.

I know, it sounds silly, but I swear I couldn't close my eyer for 4 days after that, I kept seeing hannibal coming right at me!

So, not my kind of movie :)

your right you do learn to watch horror movies.
the more shocking things you watch the more desensitized you become therefore its not shocking to you, but to others that don't watch these it is.

some movies, though the ending is worse than just that one part you saw. it's called 'horror' for a reason...it's horrifying.
