Try a private renter over a more commercial apartment complex....having a decent security deposit helps too.

I feel for you, I've been in your shoes before. If you talk to the landlord and explain how you got in your situation they might work with you. Also, try alternative means of credit to show that you are trying. You might also give them a few months advance rent. I know this will be hard but that normally wins them over! Good luck and work on your credit, I know it's hard, it's taken me 6 years and mine still isn't perfect but I finally got approved a few months ago for a place that actually goes off your credit. For the last few years I have just rented from individuals that didn't care so much about my credit. My new place approved me with no deposit! It's hard but stick to it and you'll fix your credit in time.

Its funny how we soon learn the value of having good credit when we go out on our own. Part of an apartment being "affordable" means that they accomodate the riff-raff who refuse to do better for themselves in life so they are perfectly happy with being poor and making the lives of others miserable. And being that the equal housing laws make it illegal to discriminate, the only way that the good people can be separated from the bad people is economically. If you do not want to live where the bad people live, then you must go to where the bad people do not want to be. That's usually any place that is expensive and heavily patrolled by police is not desireable by the bad people.

seems to be lots available around $850 a month..
you live in a city of 100,000 people..what did you expect
you get a bad rep...everyone knows

move......sorry hate to be rude...but..it's a small neighborhood with low crime..
63 % of that 100,000 people own a home..
there are programs to help buy a home..
you brought it on youself..so move.......it's your only choice..

stop whining, you put yourself in this position by not paying your own damn bills!!!! Put 6 mo rent down in advance.....most landlords love a wad of cash waived in their face. it will show you turned over a new leaf and are trying to a little more responsible
