Do not stop taking any prescription medications without your doctor's approval. If you suddenly stop medication for high blood pressure, this can cause your BP to dangerously skyrocket, putting you at risk for a heart attack and stroke. Uncontrolled blood pressure can also cause the same outcome.
Stevia is a natural non-caloric herb that many diabetics use as a sweetener product. It also lowers blood pressure. Speak to your doctor before taking it if you use anti-hypertensive medication to control your blood pressure. Omega 3 fatty acids should also be used.
Please work with your doctor. A healthy fibre rich diet, exercise, stress reduction, sodium restriction, and weight loss can also help. Cut out caffeine, smoking, and alcohol.
Some diabetics have high blood pressure that is severely elevated or elevated due to diabetic kidney damage. In this case, medication is needed. An ACE inhibitor is usually used. Many doctors also recommend medication to keep blood pressure low in diabetics to reduce the risk of their increased chance of heart disease.
