Okay, all you "Gen-X'ers": What is your favorite '80s song and why?
One of mine (I can't pick and absolute favorite) is: "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears. The melody is so compelling-it has that optimistic, 80s sound, even though the song itself is depressing.
Also like "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" by the Pet Shop Boys (with Dusty Springfield singing background vocals). Another great melody-and soulful.

It is way too hard to pick just one song, but I'll say "Our House" by Madness, even though it's not my favorite, because one day in 1995 it played on the radio and that inspired me to compile a list of great 80s songs that led to my first website.

Those are good ones...but I still cry every time I hear "Another Day in Paradise" by Genesis. That song is just really sad.

the buggles - video killed the radio star.. i loved it then and i still love it.. how's that for longevity.
