set goals. a lot of experts in all these sports suggest setting goals, because for some reason, they help u get better. I'm not sure why. And when u set goals they give you something to do and get you to practice and stay in shape. The kind of goal setting i like is the "blue sky" goal setting. It's when you imagine a perfect world where there are no limits to your abilities, and you set a goal using that. And anyways, the human body is an amazing thing. It can be trained to do "almost" anything. so good luck wid ur track and field

How you train is dependent on the event or events in which you will compete. Throwers (shotputters, discus throwers, and javelin throwers) need to work on technique, balance and both upper and lower leg strength. Distance runners need to work on endurance and kick. Sprinters should work on starts and explosiveness - upper and lower body strength. Jumpers need to work on technique and explosiveness. Track and field is a lot of fun. Pick the event(s) that you want to do, and talk to the others that do that event. Most harriers (track guys) are pretty cool about helping each other, right up until the time it's time to get in the lane. Remember, in track, you compete more with yourself than everyone else. Always try to beat your own PR (personal record). Best of luck - and remember to stretch.
