I bet you are a Cubs fan hoping that someone here tells you how great the Cubs are.But be serious, they still don't have starting pitching after Zambrano.Ted Lilly is a career .500 pitcher who gives up too many fly balls. In Wrigley, those will be out on either Waveland or Sheffield.Who in their bullpen makes the opposing hitters tremble? No one.The time to wait on the "potential" of Wood and Prior has come and gone. They signed Soriano and he is going to put up some numbers, but he'll strike out too much and have fewer walks than Juan Pierre. Will Lee stay off the DL this year? Will Aramis Ramirez ever hit in the clutch?Lou Pinella is being heralded as the patron saint of managing, but the Yankee and Reds teams he managed could have won with Forrest Gump managing .He didn't exactly turn around Tampa Bay,now did he?The Tribune lured him back with money and he was smart enough to take it.So if by a good year you mean 80 wins, then sure. But if you think World Series, you will be in for another disappointing year.

Cubs will be good as long as the pitching can stay healthy!! They have the big bats and D.Lee will have a great year. The guy above ( crz4met) is just mad the Mets choked in the playoffs!!!! I say they win 85-90 games. I hope !!!!! Only Cubs fans understand what it's like. The baseball being blown up was in fun and that is a stupid point by Danny. What does that have to do with this year?

You guys are so long over due. This is a good year for them to contend for the division if they stay healthy. Look for your Cubs to be in the thick fo things if that happens.

Yes. The Red Sox broke the curse. Chicago has a great team. I don't know if they still are but Chiacago was interested in A-Rod and Chicago picked up Alfonso Soriano who had a great year in '06. I am a cubs fan

Well, since to the Cubs, having a 'good year' is being above .500, sure I think they will. Although no matter how much better they look on paper, they still manage to suck.

Yes. As long as they stay off the DL and get off to a good start.

The bull pen will have to come up big as well to help the young pitchers in tight ball games. Hopefully that's were Kerry Wood will shine.

well it wont be worse then last year and i do pick them to win the division only cuz the rest of the division declined. houston lost pettite and clemens and replace with jennings and williams. st louis lost like 3 starters. pittburgh and milwaukee didn't make enough imrovements to consider for the division.

Yes they will if they can keep their top pitcher and key hitters off of the DL for long periods of time.

They will contend for the division.
