Oh thats easy I have had a bunch. and when I mean a bunch I mean A BUNCH! All you have to do to tame it is you wait try not to pick it up the first day because it may bite. Wait until it gets used to its new surroundings. After about a week or so, then try. If it is still jumpy, wait longer. Just be patient. Trust me, It will work! And make sure it has cardboard, a wheel, water, and food. Oh and bedding!
Have a great day!
Best I could do!

Okay 4 BOOKs wow didn't they all say the same thing? To tame it is just like anything else the more you pay attention to it the better it will act.For the first day you will want to let it adjust keep lights dim and don't mess with it to much. then when you do start to play try just petting it in its cage at first and let it get used to you picking it up. Then once it gets use to that try taking it out of its cage.Do you have any other animals? If so make sure until you get it tame enough it is not trying to jump out of your hands that any other pet is not in the room so your hamster don't get hurt or even killed.Hopefully you kept 1 of those books for any problems that may come up.Just remember time, love, and food will make it a loving pet.Have fun!

Taming a hamster is not hard if you mess with it a lot - try not to play with it to much though because you will stress it out. Make sure you only have it out for small amounts at a time. Keep in mind they are nocturnal so she will sleep mostly during the day and play at night. :-) Dont punish them for biting - they are too small and you could hurt them. Just ignore them and continue to handle them.

let it alone the first 24 hours, talk to it, next day offer a treat, get an exercise ball for them to run in, sold at petsmart for 4 dollars, in various colors. try to get a young one, about 7-8wks old. petsmart and petco have the. the teddy bear, honeybear, and long hairs I have owned and they are pretty easy to handle, they also carry panda bear, calico, tortoise shell, black bear, dwarf, sometimes white ones too. if you have read the books, you know what we do. just clean the cage weekly, remove the poop with an old spoon as you see it, but they do eat it right after they pass it, part of a digestion thing they do, you'll see the hard dry ones laying around though. use cozy critters super shavins for your bedding, it is low dust oil, and dosn't harm their respiratory system as pine and cedar do. get a female, that's all petsmart sells. good luck!
