Because they want to control us. In their eyes, it is Pro-American because it is advantageous to them. And that terrorism bullshit to wiretap us and take away our right to privacy, that is "Pro-American"? The Patriot Act was bullshit. They are using the terroists as cover to control us.

What "illegal" wiretapping? What "illegal" mail search? Those being detained are ILLEGAL COMBATANTS! What do you think we should do with people who want to kill us? The war is neither unprovoked or new. Islamofascists have been fighting us for decades, it's high time we fought back.

Why do you think that it is un American to support a friend? I think that is a very American thing to do.

Wiretapping... hmm... if the wire taps are on the people calling home to dirka dirka ville, that's reasonable in my mind, i don't recall anything about searching the mail other than with dogs to smell bombs and such, torture... yea it happened but was not sanctioned by the government and those responsible are being held responsible so don't worry about it... secret prisons, why do you civilians think you have the right to know everything... we are holding the suspects until they can do no further damage to our men and women on the ground... detention camps, see comment about detaining suspects... unprovoked war, that's still to be debated but G dubb did get re-hired did he not?

as far as un-American, i don't know but i do know that you, fine sir, are very American, you listen to the media and do little research on your own like the majority of (liberal/democrat) Americans. But, you do love that freedom of speech thing don't you ;) However... i don't believe its a majority of people that feel like you do... just the stupid loud ones. Mamma always said, "it is better to keep quiet and have people think you are stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

And what about Israel? They haven't done anything that wasn't provoked. You do understand that they're surrounded by enemies and have bombs lobbed over their borders every day by Islamic extremists?

I agree with you, however some people are willing to go to more extreme measures in order to complete their agenda. Even Lincoln, who most Americans consider to be one of the greatest presidents of all time, had anyone who spoke poorly about the union arrested.

I may not agree with what some republicans in congress were doing and would like to do, but i think the important thing is that everyone respects each others opions and work together to find a compromise that will fit the majority of Americans.

Some people are so far to the left, they are hanging on by their fingernails and that is not most voters. Most voters are conservatives, either Democrat or Republican.

BECAUSE PROTECTING THE COUNTRY AND THE CITIZENS FROM TERRORISTS *IS* PRO AMERICAN...I find this to be extremely offensive, as it isn't a case of Republicans thinking it but all Americans who should be protective of their country and it sounds to me like you Libs are more pro-terrorist than pro-American...and I find that frightening and worrisome. You want to know why "we Republicans" think you are anti American ???!?!!? DUH, read your question again...the proof is in the pudding so to speak! Personally, I give our government credit for preventing another attack on US soil...you stupid Libs sure would be the first to complain and point fingers at Bush for not doing enought to protect US if there had been another attack...it's a simple case of he's damned if he does, he's damned if he doesn't...no matter what he does it isn't good enough or right because you idiot leftists are so blinded by hatred that you care more about making the president look bad than about the safety of this country and the citizens! I for one am sick and tired of all this classified information on programs that are PROTECTING ME FROM TERRORISTS being made news by some narrow minded reporter for the NY Times. Who do they think there are to decide that my safety isn't a good enough reason to NOT print this information that does nothing but HELP and AIDE the TERRORISTS! Personally I think people like you are traitors who should be imprisioned... Lastly, the wire taps are NOT illegal, they are tapping foreign calls into the US, not every flipping call made in the US and if you aren't talking to someone overseas from that area what do you have to worry about? They aren't listening in on your phone call to your girlfriend or about the movie you saw this weekend. If you aren't doing anything to endanger this country then why complain? I sure am not... I'd love to sue the NY Times and all those people who compromise my security for the sake of political gain. Lastly, you have not a single right in the world to complain about the US when these terrorists are over there beheading and killing innocent people...maybe we can get together a fund and buy you a one way ticket since you think they are so wonderful...

I don`t think they all believe that but most don`t understand that it has nothing to do with if "you are not doing anything wrong" but giving government absolute power with no oversight from "We the People.
