it happens, but some hospitals give you a laxative or at least they used to. it is nothing to be ashamed of. there isn't much you can do about it. the birth canal and the colon are parallel to each other and when the baby is coming out it pushes out anything that is in the colon. doctors see this all of the time so it's nothing to be embarrassed about if it does happen. my aunt was given a laxative when she had her baby two years ago, but six months ago i delivered my baby at the same hospital and they didn't give me one. so I'm not sure if they still do that.

This is very common, but at that point, you don't realize that you've done because you're busy feeling the contractions.
Also, don't worry about how the doctors or nurses will react, they see it all the time. They'll just clean it up as if you never did it. I've heard that the only time mom's know that they've done it is if their spouse's or whomever you let in the delivery room mention it.

Yes, it is very normal. As a mother of 2 (going on 3) it happens alot. With all the pushing sometimes it just happens.. some women dont even know they do, when they actually did. The docors dont freak out, they just clean it up and go on with the delivery. Dont worry!

You see it is not because of the pressure on the bowels during labor it is because when the doc tells you to push, you push a kid out the same way you push to well have a bowel movement. From pushing so hard, alot of women have bowel movements, natures way of cleaning out the system while in labor. Some women also pee because of pushing so hard! Hope that helps!

It's okay to ask a question twice, you get a larger variety of answers.
Yes, women can have a bm during delivery. No one but the doctor sees though, and he's probably seen it a million times before. No worries.

Yes it's common, but so much is happening that the woman giving birth probably won't notice- I know I didn't...and it was three weeks or something like that before my man told me I'd opened my bowels on the delivery bed! I honestly didn't know!

yes, of course it is common. in fact alot of hospitals or doctors insist you have an enema. i was not asked with either one of my children, the nurse came in to give the enema and i asked her what she was doing. she told me i said no thank you and she became very rude. i told her i refuse and i think i am paying the doc and the hospital enough to put up with the minor inconvenience. she could not believe my refusal but geez i was in pain and really was not in the mood to have anything shoved up my butt. i do not know if they insist on that anymore, that was 15 years ago but i would not be surprised if they do. i am 8 months pregnant and will not have an enema with this labor either. I will not get an enema unless my life depends on it.

Yes. It is common, because you are pushing and sometimes it is hard to differentiate between pushing poop and pushing the baby out. Most doctors are used to it

Very common! Also when you are pushing it feels like you are "evacuating" (Dr. talk for going to the bathroom)! Don't worry it may just feel like that but if you do doo-doo the nurses clean it all up!

This is very common.A few years back you were given an anema before you went in the labor room so this wouldn't happen.
