I tottaly forgot till today, but during my final exam in December, there was a girl sitting next to me who stopped half way, reached down to her purse and opened a bag of Doritos and started eating them!! I was thinking that was sooooo inappropriate to do during the final exam, and i CANT stand chewing noises. I'm surprised the Professor didn't say anything.
YES or NO? Should students be eating during finals?

NO! If she had been sitting next to me, I would have made sure the professor knew what was going on by saying loud enough for everyone to hear "Eat AFTER you get out of here. I don't want to listen to your chewing!" I have done the same to people the sniffle or cough excessively during exams. Leave the room to blow your nose or get a drink of water, what have you... just STFU while others are taking the exam!

NO. Definitely students should NOT eat during an exam. It is disturbing to others, and is also considered as a bad manner.

No, it's not appropriate. If you want to eat, eat something quiet like a Clif bar or soemthing. If you really have a problem with it, bring it up to the prof at that time.

Now, don't give yourself unnecessary grief by dwelling on it.

Of course not. And this is your life here - why the hell wouldn't you have told the proctor this was going on?

At a minimum she would have been told to stop - otherwise, she would have been kicked out. This is a Final for God's sake.

You could fairly have drawn your professor's attention to this. We are sometimes reluctant to do anything if only we are annoyed. But if a student indicates that s/he finds such behaviour distracting we are glad to do something about it.

I personally think you're making a mountain out of a molehill, but from the other responses it looks like I'm alone on this.
