Ok so this guy I kind of know can be cool and funny sometimes but most of the time he will hit you and beat u up infront of everyone, he'll also crack hella jokes about you. I noticed when I make jokes back at him or hit him back, he beats my ***. I cant just stay away from him because he always trys to sit by me on the bus. what do i do?

Begin a systematic program of weaning him from you.
Basically, work at reducing the interactions. Don't initiate conversations, answer with the shortest possible sentences, etc.
Do not ever say anything against him, barely even ever mention him. Try to sit such that there is no empty space near you, and if he does sit near you try to be working on something.
You do not ever want to appear annoyed, mad, etc. by him either- that would generate emotions between you. If he hits you or abuses you, ignore it as much as you can and the next day just pull back a little more.
This is annoying, but school life is just a blip in your life- it goes away.

A combination of things: (1) STOP joking/teasing with him --- Obviously he's not your friend and don't care about you at all. (2) Avoid him at all costs. If he confronts you about your change in behavior, bluntly tell him why and walk off. If he hits you, fight for your life. (3) Tell your parents, teachers, and bus driver about him. This way it will be documented. The bus driver can help you avoid sitting with him and watch him as he gets on and off the the bus. (4) Last but not least, be careful with him.

laugh at his jokes about u and he will stop doing it cuz it aint hurtin u
when he beats u up don't make any kind of expression and he will most likely stop
