I am worried about pooping while pushing. I know that it happens a lot, but I don't want it to happen to me. Is there any way to make sure it won't happen???

It's funny that you mention this! I purchased a DVD on Lamaze and the educator, who is an RN, spoke about this very topic. She said that many soon-to-be moms have this concern and her suggestion was to administer an enema on yourself while you're in the early stages of labor (while you're still at home). She said that it won't harm your baby or you. After that, you should only eat things that you can see through -- nothing heavy (i.e. broth, jello, water, etc.).

Since I found this information on a DVD, I suggest you double check with your doctor.

Congratulations and good luck!

I had an enema before having my first child. I would rather have pooped on the table, though. I absolutely hated it (the nurse did it). With my second and third, I didn't have an enema, and I didn't poop on the table. But I wouldn't have cared at that moment anyway-my mind was on other things. Plus, doctors and nurses see it all the time. They're used to it.

the place I had my infants they did nevertheless do habitual enemas, in simple terms a sprint one, called a Fleet enema - while in comparison with each thing else that is going on it relatively wasn't a super deal. whether, I trust what all and sundry is asserting approximately being pointless - your physique cleans itself out throughout labour so there is not something there besides! One tip i could grant you with - a buddy informed me while i replaced into pregnant to ascertain and empty your bladder throughout labour. She did not, and while the toddler replaced into coming her bladder replaced into finished and that they had to certainly put in a catheter to empty it, it replaced into interior the way. I made specific to try this, and had a super delivery!

we "old" chicks all had enemas before delivering...I would ask your Dr to write an order for you to have one if you desire, when you get to the hospital.....working in a hospital, I've seen a lot of poop....it's still gross, no matter how much you see, so I don't agree with the idea that people get used to it...it's never a job nurses enjoy. in any case, lose your worry...you forget it all once you're there..it's all about doing whatever to deliver...good luck

Actually, yes. This is also a natural way to induce labor. (Get your doctor's permission first, though.) Also, another gross but natural way to induce labor and prevent the issue you brought up is castor oil. I took a little bit the morning that I wanted my daughter to be born (she was almost 10 pounds and past her due date) and it cleaned me out before I got to the hospital and started labor. Again, clear this with your doctor.

Good luck to you!
