I'm an atheist, and I can't say that happens to me very often. There is something to be said about keeping your opinions private. I'm not saying keep it a secret, but don't annouce it from the rooftops. Some christians see that as a challenge or as an attack, which is kinda ironic to me.

Probably a back lash from all the anti-Christian stuff on TV. Check out Jon Stewart on a daily basis, or CNN or MTV. I'm not big on thumping the bible, but it seems to me intolerance is OK as long as a person is white, christian and male. If you don't agree check out the Sensativity Training, or Sexual harrassment videos at ANY corporation. Who's always the perpetrator portrayed on those videos? Who's always the racist, who's always the sexist? Who is always the victim?

Your grievence is ALWAYS addressed, but there is NO ONE addressing sexism against men, or racism against whites..because it just isn't in the American infrastructure of political correctness.

You and other atheists can get a Nativity scene taken off of church property, when's the last time you heard of a Christian organization shutting down a Wiccan organization? When's the last time the ACLU went to bat for a kid who wanted to have a silent prayer in school? When's the last time Oprah did a show about FREE money and scholarships to get men in workplaces that are predominately women, such as nursing? Yet we hear that woman make 70 cents on the dollar of what a man makes, and to this day NO ONE has ever told me what job that is, or which company?

So while you might face some rednecks with a bible in their hand, believe me you have the whole federal gubment backing you up and free lawyers to "rectify" any real or imagined grievence.

Those who say don't know. Those who know don't say. If a person is completely convinced of their faith, they wouldn't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops. You'll find it's mostly born again christians who shout the loudest. They seem desperate to prove how devout they are seeking support not from god but from fellow christians. They want to belong. A true christian doesn't feel the need to prove themselves, they are content with their choice and won't mock other people for their beliefs. I'm not religious but I do believe in spirit. I agree that this doesn't seem to be a very tolerant place for all non-christians.

I guess its the same as people making statements like "everyone" putting down....I for one have never in my life said anything like that to you and I am sure "most" of the US would say the same I would say "most" of the US don't even know you. So if its in your close circle of friends then I would suggest that you firmly but politely say I am not interested please don't bother me again! Widen your circle of friends so that you come in contact with a different group of people.
