Possible plugged rad.Warm the car up and feel all over the rad .Your looking for cold spots.Try to get your hands on the finned section of the rad.If the rad feel warm all over then it something else if not have your rad rodded out and flush will not do in this case.If it not the trouble check that the cooling fan works then it on to the head gasket and such.

well is it loseing the coolent? and is it a 4 cylender. It could be that the fins on the water pump are worn off by time and or corrosion. Ive seen where the line that come from the upper radiator houseing thats connected to the engine has gotten plugged with crap and wouldnt let the air bleed back into the coolent bottle. the cooling fans might not be working either. On Fords i do know that you can check to see if they are working by turning on the A/C. thats the best i can think off with the info provided. let me know if you find more info out.

if you are pushing white smoke or your oil is milky you might have a bad head gasket , they were bad for this , hope its just a gunked up rad.

could be bad water pump, fan not comming on, or the thermostat you bought was crap
