I saw it in 1986 when it came through, and it will return to our part of the solar system again every 76 years or so, so 2062 is your date to mark on the calendar. It is currently heading toward perihelion somewhere between Saturn and Uranus, and this will occur in ~2024 when it will come to a virtual dead stop, and then start falling toward the sun again. If you want to see it sooner than 2062, you could always go out past Saturn and see it there, and maybe even hop onboard and ride it in to the inner solar system! That would be fun, don't you think? Sad to say it, but I was not born yesterday. But anyone who was born yesterday will be around 55 years old when it comes through again.
