No,you will need to take care of the warrant first. The words Warrant and Passport don't sound good in the same sentence when talking to officials.Good luck.

If it was a misdemeanor, I would be surprised if the Dept of State would search for it. But you never know - if there is an actual warrant that is in your state's database, the DoS might find it.

(If you have seen the Blues Brothers movie, remember when Elwood mentioned SCMODS - State, County, Municipal Offenders Database System? He was pulled over for blowing thru a red light and the cops found dozens of unpaid tickets on his file. I wouldn't want to have my name in that....)

If your speeding ticket was for a felony, well, that's another story. I doubt you would be given a passport. Maybe a pair of stainless steel bracelets.

To be safe, go pay off the speeding ticket. Be honest with the court and explain why you never paid it off. Then apologize profusely, throw yourself at the mercy of the court, and offer to pay off the ticket and whatever penalty is due. And make a small donation to the judge's favorite charity.

Having a cleared name is worth being able to sleep well at night.

NO! Your just asking for problems. If you file for a passport and your flagged with a warrant...you could be tried as a runaway. Some one who is trying to flee the country. Witch is a felony. Your looking at hard time.

A passport is a privilege not a right.

You can't travel outside of the country with warrants.

No, I believe they do a background check on you. You need to take care of that ticket as soon as you can. The longer you wait, the worse it may be. Best of luck to you.

Yes any little thing could hold it up. Take care of that first then apply.
