Yes try a few things to get it out even a magnet for picking up screws etc.. You can also take the lock apart and put it back together. They are quite simple and if you still can't get at it take the piece to locksmith who will charge you almost nothing when you bring the door lock in. Most charge $7.00 to re-key in shop or $21. to re-key at your house. The url below mentions using a coping saw blade.

If you're asking this I'm assuming that you're inside already.
Keep a pad of paper nearby and make notes of what you did so you can reassemble all these items.
Here's my suggestion: If it's a knob lock then on the inside there will be two screws holding the two knobs and locks together. Remove these. If the handle part is separate, you'll have to insert a screwdriver into the slot and press in the tab. The handle will come right off.
Once the screws are out, both sides of the knobs will pull right off leaving the latch inside the door.
If you have a handle on the outside and knob inside, the same procedure works but you have to unscrew the bottom screw holding the long handle to the door.
Now the outside knob part has the lock and your key fragment inside. You can push the lock section right through. You should be able to now push the broken key section back out using either a very thin screwdriver or a wire from the backside.
Put everything back together in reverse order and you'll be set. The two screws will take some maneuvering to get back into place so have patience.
This will be the cheapest method of getting the broken key out.
If you wind up with a jumble of parts you can go to a hardware store and purchase a new assembly. They cost from $15 -$170 depending on the style and security and you can install them yourself by following the directions. A locksmith will cost you a minimum of $75 in most areas just to show up.

Take the piece you have and make sure the broken end is flat and clean. Then put two drops of super glue on the broken end and insert the key into the lock. Hold it there pushing in tightly for 1 minute, but don't try and pull the key out immediately. Later, gently pull the key out.
PS, no I've never tried this and don't even know if super glue sticks to metal. Do you think the locksmith will be able to get the super glue out of the lock? A lock pick would probably be what he will use to remove it.

OK 1st off, I am a locksmith so i would recommend call in one because we have a very small special tool that is shaped like and auger. or a spiral noodle looking tool.. to extract the key. BUTTTT............. IF you wanna try it your self, take the lock off the door, it depends on the kind it is, but most just have 2 screws on the interior side of the door and tip it upside down and gently tap on it to see if it will come out. More than likely it wont tho. since you already have it off, it would be cheaper and easier than calling one out, to just take it to a locksmith and have them take it out. Honestly it should only cost you between 5 and 10 dollars for you to take it to them. BUT depending where your from who knows how much if they come to you!! abd also, the only keys a magnet will work on are very very old ones. all keys are brass, magnets do not stick to them.

Maybe tweezers or a strong magnet.
Maybe if you put some super glue on the end of the piece out of the door and press it to the broken piece, let dry and then gently see if it will pull out.
Good Luck.

See if any windows ARE open. I'd even suggest a tiny drop of superglue on the broke part. If anything doesn't work you are going to have to call allockdoc. Any other doors you could go through?

I've gotten keys out like this situation by using a slightly bent pick (electrical tool used for disengaging terminals from connector housings) You can get them for like $7.00 at Auto Zone. It WILL take a while.
