Mark Callaway has always portrayed the Undertaker except for a brief feud in 1994 when the character was played by Brian Lee, (who is best known as Disciples of Apocalypse member Chainz). He began the biker gimmick after a hiatus when he returned at Judgment Day 2000. The gimmick of the "dead man" was felt to have grown stale as many people grew tired of seeing Undertaker continually find ways to vanquish his opponents. In addition, the character had been turned face and heel frequently during the past few years and needed to be freshened. This purpose had been served by the frequent hiatuses (which continue to this day). The same sentiment followed Hulk Hogan's career during his later days in the WWF and even in WCW after his first year. Fans simply get tired of seeing the same thing. At Survivor Series 2003, Undertaker lost a "Buried Alive Match" to Vince McMahon with the help of his "brother" Kane. This led to yet another Undertaker hiatus until he reappeared at Wrestlemania XX using the "Dead Man Gimmick."

He was the Undertaker long before he rode the bike to the ring! The biker gimmick was stupid and just about killed his career. He has said in interviews didnt even like it, but Vince thought it was a great idea.

well i have to say that the biker guy stunk he lost more matches as the biker andyeah mark Callaway has been the undertaker since 1993 since ted dibase added him to his teamthey real undertaker is the deadman the one that is supposedly said to have powers to summon lightning, teleport and summon fire Just as His so called Half brother Glen Jacobs also known as kane kane is also said to have those powers but its also said that he has the power to feel no pain but he partially lost it
oh and yeah if you think that the biker was better then i would have to say your wrong because when hes the deadman he wins alot more also i think he had 1 good match and he lost it to vince mcmahon when he was the biker it was the buried alive match

The biker years of the taker were mediocre at best. He came in as the dead man, and he'll leave as the dead man.
