Hi, I am religious muslim college student. I am planning to take a class in college. And our instructor said that students in class will be divided into several groups and each group has to have female.
I am religious , can I object about that. I don't want to mix with girls. Is their anything I can do about that. What does usa law says about that.
Thank you.

If you don't want to mix with girls, go to some country that is more in line with your views. This is America. Adapt to our ways... we will not adapt to yours.

Religion is separate, from school and state. You may discuss it with your instructor or dean and see if they can accommodate you... however, it could be viewed as gender discrimination, by female students and faculty. How would you take it if someone (male) didn't want to be in a group with you because you are Muslim? It would be discrimination on the basis of religion. I can respect your beliefs, and I can also appreciate them, as I am sure your classmates will. However, when you graduate are you going to work in an all male facility? I have several friends that are of the Muslim faith and they have no problem mingling with members of the opposite sex, especially when it comes to education or work.

You are in America. If mixing with members of the opposite sex offends your religious principles, you are free not to take the class. They will not discriminate against someone based on their sex just to satisfy you.

I don't think they can force you to join a group that is against your religion, but I really don't know. I have a muslim student in my english class, and he has worked in a group with me before willingly, what part of your religion says otherwise? just curious.
